The PENN Torque Star Drag is made in the USA and features an open top design with a machined and anodized aluminum body and sideplates, along with a lightweight forged aluminum spool. The revolutionary Live Spindle design makes the Torque one of the longest casting reels on the market. Stainless Steel Gears: The stainless steel gear train in Penn's Torque Star Drag reels doesn't get much tougher. Machined from stainless steel in their Philadelphia manufacturing center, these gears offer the perfect combination of strength and speed.
Versa-Gears: The Torque Star Drag reels come from the factory with a 6.0:1 gear ratio for rapid line retrieve. However, you may find the need for a lower gear ratio in certain fishing situations, for example: bottom fishing where power is more important than speed. For these situations, Penn offers their Versa-Gear system ( Available Separately ). With this system you can easily purchase and install a 5.4:1 or 4.8:1 gear ratio.
Versa-Drag: Versa-Drag system allows for multiple drag settings for various fishing conditions.
Live Spindle Both the spool and spindle may rotate independently from the drive train and frame thereby reducing friction during the free spool and eliminating binding during the retrieve.

If you do not find what you are looking for do a Google search with Mystic Reel Parts in the search with your model. I have a Penn 285 and 9 and it took me to the exact page for both. Also have the reel schematics.

I luckily found MysticParts via a Google search. Their website is comprehensive and I was at a loss on what I needed. Fortunately the “contact us” option was user friendly. To my delight I got a personalized and VERY helpful response right away. She asked questions to fully understand my needs and then followed up with links to the right parts. We continued our email exchange regarding my second reel issue and, again, she was extremely knowledgeable and gave me both practical as well as professional solutions.
