INSTALLATION NOTES:
The one in the reel previously installed may look shorter due to compressed coils (on the smaller models).
They are hard to install if you don't know how. Bail must be in closed position, so that the little arm that the spring sits on allows the most room for the spring in the slot. Slide one end of the spring on the arm. Curve the spring so that you can tuck the other end into the far end of the spring slot. Then gently push the middle of the curve down with your finger so that the spring is in place, cover with piece of scotch tape to hold it temporarily. Put the cover back into place and just before tucking it all the way down, slide out the scotch tape. Then snug the cover down and put the screw on.

If you do not find what you are looking for do a Google search with Mystic Reel Parts in the search with your model. I have a Penn 285 and 9 and it took me to the exact page for both. Also have the reel schematics.

I luckily found MysticParts via a Google search. Their website is comprehensive and I was at a loss on what I needed. Fortunately the “contact us” option was user friendly. To my delight I got a personalized and VERY helpful response right away. She asked questions to fully understand my needs and then followed up with links to the right parts.
