Jigmaster Reel Specs

REEL INFO:
Jigmaster - Game fish go for live action lures, so you'll get extra strikes and catches with Jigmaster reels. A unique high gear arrangement and large arbor make these easy casting and fast retrieving reels a joy to use. Precision fitted spools enable Jigmaster reels to handle all lines, including monofilament.
(1983 Penn Catalog)

Jigmaster - To hard working saltwater anglers, the Penn general purpose reels, such as the Surfmaster, are as highly valued as mom, apple pie and the good old USA. These reels offer great value and serious features like durable aluminum spools, precision machined gears and Penn's famous HT-100 multi-disc star drag. Perfect for stripers in the surf, cobia off the beaches or albacore, school tuna or yellowtail in the open ocean.
(2000 Penn Catalog)

HISTORY:
The 500L was the first Jigmaster designed and manufactured by Penn, and it's also the only Jigmaster still manufactured today. While in 1958 the Jigmaster (then model number 500) came with two light-weight plastic spools by default, metal spools were available as extras. Modern reel comes with an aluminum spool (designated by the "L" in 500L)
500S: This reel has the take apart thumbstud on the side for easy removal of the spool or assess to the gears for servicing.
501: The 501 was identical to the 500 to this model, but had a narrow spool/stand/posts, and is no longer manufactured.
The 505HS was the first Penn conventional reel ever to sport a 5:1 ratio.
The 506HS is the same as but, had a narrow spool/stand/posts.

Take Apart Construction

The term "Take-Apart" refers to the feature of quick and easy take-down of the reel for cleaning or spool change. To effect this, unscrew the knurled take-apart screw ( part TA 200 ) three turns to the left and then pull it outward ( away from plate ), at the same time rotate the right side plate about 1/4 inch to the left ( counter-clockwise ) and pull it away from the reel frame, taking care not to drop the freed spool. To re-assemble, reverse the entire operation, making sure to screw the take-apart screw into the reel frame, as otherwise the right side plate might be lost.
TA-200 became 129-200

12/21/2023 Got it! Its perfect. Thank you so much. It was just on a whim that I even searched for this part. Hard to believe that I could get a reel part for a reel that is 30 plus years old. Thanks again,
